This is a very useful and well made item, especially if you have a dog with long ears! The size suits the smaller breds but for our fully grown cocker bowls were a bit small.

We love this almost as much as our dog! The stainless steel bowls go in the dishwasher and aren't so big that we are tempted to over feed him! It is small and neat and looks pretty good in our kitchen!

We have unfortunately been through several dog flaps over the years. Our Jack Russell doesn't like to walk through the flap - she flies through at top speed! This results in the flap not lasting very long. This one seals much better than others we have had, and lets through a lot less air from outside. It certainly appears to be a much stronger build than previous ones as well. Can be a bit noisy as the dog flies through. Time will tell whether this one stands the test of time and our dog!

Great dog flap, a little noisy, but that is probably because the dog charges through it at the speed of light. The only down side is that both my 7 year old and 9 year old boys can climb through it, so we have to lock it when we go out. Slightly defeats the object of giving the dog access to the garden whilst we are out! Locking system and dial very simple and easy to use. Simple to install.

I purchased this pump for my daughter's 28ltr fish tank, as the one supplied with it was VERY noisy, and caused the tank to vibrate and did not even filter out the debris in the tank. This pump is excellent, it is SUPER quiet and the flow can be adjusted to suit the needs of the aquarium. The water was crystal clear in 24 hours and is very efficient at filtering all the debris. Happy fish and Happy daughter, highly recommend for small tanks :)

I have two goldfish that I have transfered across from a bigger tank and they seem to make a lot of mess.I have tried the Fluval mini and other leading brands but nothing seems to keep the tank as clear as this. I use to clean the tank once every two weeks and since putting it in on 10th April I have not had to even touch the water since and it is still crystal clear. It is quiet and also can pump air in to the water to so that the water stay oxygenised. Great product would highly reccommend.

Good points:

~ Very easy to assemble.
~ Very quiet operational noise when not using the 'airflow control venturi device' because there are no bubbles.
~ Easy to clean and maintain.
~ My goldfish are very happy!
~ Not as unsightly as other filters on the market.
~ easy to follow concise instructions with pictures and in many languages.

Bad points:

~ Regular (weekly) rinsing of the sponge is required, otherwise the product does not work eficiently.
~ A little noisy when making use of the 'airflow control venturi device'.
~ No carbon filter.

Review:

I bought this product through amazon about a month ago, and have so far found it to be a very effective water filter for my three goldfish. My fish are quite large, and thier tank is not the biggest, so they tend to make quite a mess of the water in a very short space of time. I used to use an under-gravel filter system for my fish, which now my fish are alot larger than they used to be (they are seven years old now), became inadequate.

Since installing the Fluval U1 the water has been kept clear of visible faeces and old food, both of which are very efficiently sucked into the filter. My fish also used to (with under-gravel filtration) spend quite alot of time near the surface of the tank, as they were using up too much oxygen in the water, but they never do this with the Fluval U1, as the venturi device is very efficient at oxygenating the water for them.

I tend to not notice the noise of the bubbles that the venturi device creates, but when people visit to watch films they tend to be a little annoyed by it and i have to put it to a lower setting.

The instructions that came with the filter were very easy to follow, and contained useful black and white pictures. However, because they were black and white, it is hard to tell, in one section, the position of the dial for adjusting the water flow (as it is an all-black pump, with a black dial and black control knob). on the other hand, when looking at the actual product and not the picture the instructions become clear anyway.

The product comes with a 3 year warranty, which is useful if you can be bothered to send off the paperwork.

Overall impression:

I would definitely reccomend this product for use in small to medium sized goldfish tanks. If I ever buy a bigger tank for my fish i would stick with Fluval and try another bigger model in the 'U' series.

We bought this for a new puppy, having read a lot about "crate training". When we did not find this concept acceptable (it caused undue stress for the puppy), the crate was moved to the car where it has been most successful. The puppy is happy and comfortable in the cage and is perfectly well behaved - she loves to go in the car, even if she does not get out until we get home on some occasions, which we find wonderful as our last dog - too big for a cage and so took up the whole of the back seat - never settled in the car in all of his 14 years, barking throughout most of all journeys.

This cage/coattage/crate - call it what you will - with it's also available fitted bed, is very well made and a delight to use.

This was an excellent buy. I'd been told about using a crate for a puppy and looked around at prices and thought some to be far too much. But this one was great value, having the two doors means I can place it in different areas of the house and the pup really likes it.
